Announcement: The Women’s Healthy Heart Initiative is now the Wendy Wray Women’s Healthy Heart Initiative.
The Wendy Wray WHHI marks the calendar with two annual events that bring women’s heart health into the open.
Wear Red Canada Day is celebrated annually on February 13th to raise awareness about women’s heart health. It is a national reminder for all Canadian women to be mindful, curious and proactive about their cardiovascular health.
What started as a small awareness initiative at the WHHI in 2009 grew into a national movement in 2019 through a partnership with the Canadian Women’s Heart Health Alliance. Today, events are held across the country every February.
You do not need to attend an event to participate. Wear red on February 13. Share why. Start a conversation with the women in your life about heart health.
Each year the Symposium focuses on a specific theme. Past editions have covered sex and gender differences in heart disease, heart health in immigrant and Indigenous women, obesity, use of Ozempic, and recent update on hormone replacement therapy in menopause.
Upcoming in 2026: Heart-brain health.
